Park Water Company Case Study

Delivers Faster Water Quality Test Results, Rapid Laboratory Data Transfers, and On-Time Regulatory Reports with WaterTrax

WaterTrax makes sense - no data entry and we produce better reports with huge time savings

Gary Lynch, Vice President Water Quality, Park Water Company

Park Water Company is a private utility that serves about 200,000 water users in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties in California and in Missoula and Superior counties in Montana.

The Challenge

Speed matters. Faster test results. Immediate alerts. Rapid data transfer. On-time reports. Combined they give Park Water Company the efficiencies and the timeliness it was seeking on the administrative side of its water utility operations.

The Solution

“A service like WaterTrax makes a lot of sense,” says Gary Lynch, vice-president, water quality, for Park Water. Mr. Lynch singled out two features in particular that sold the company on WaterTrax.

“The first is that alerts on exceedances are tied to e-mail notices. This has become very important to us because it allows us to respond more rapidly to potential problems in our water quality.”

The second feature, said Mr. Lynch, is that lab test results now are transferred directly into Park’s database. “We get on top of the results faster than even by telephone. The transfer of information is almost automatic.”

The Benefits

WaterTrax made it easier for Park Water to respond to positive field tests on physical parameters such as turbidity. Close monitoring of color discrepancies could point to problems of a more serious nature.

The second feature, said Mr. Lynch, is that lab test results now are transferred directly into Park’s database. “We get on top of the results faster than even by telephone. The transfer of information is almost automatic.”

As Park Water builds up its database it anticipates embarking on trending and long-term analysis and forecasting without having to build in extra staff time.
